My story
Looking back on this journey, I now see that I always had a fascination with the art of makeup. I can remember being a little girl, and growing up with my mother and my godmother. Three women in one household, now this is where the teaching began. Remember I grew up in the 70's, the true disco era. My mother and godmother were diva's in there own right!
They loved makeup, vintage style, stilettos, Candies heels(at least 4inches), basically anything that is fashionista style! Most important things when being a Disco Diva! Now my mom was very creative, a hairstylist at one time and always had a love for art and interior design. My godmother, loves it all, but most of all she loves her beauty products! She is also a very creative person.
Whenever a new product would launch , my godmother would have to go and buy it. She would test it out on her porcelain skin(which is beautiful)and watch out If the results were good! Makeup was her passion, and I loved her makeup bag!
My mother and godmother are my best friends and my teachers. So I watched and I learned. They used Lancome, Chanel, Estee Lauder, and Elizabeth Arden. Let me say this, I loved using their goodies, compared to my wet and wild products. The name says it all!( not to say that there aren't some great products in that line!)Believe me I love to try it all when it comes to makeup.
Not only were my mother and godmother teaching me about makeup they were also passionate about skincare...they were always putting on sunscreen! As you can see I am a pale little italian...yes while all of my italian friends were being sunkissed, I was being lathered up with sunblock 50, wearing big hats, and yes reading magazines under the umbrella! Well, I thank them now for the protection, but back then I was not too happy about it!

It is amazing how makeup can make a woman feel.
Makeup is all about confidence, and bringing out features that you admire about yourself, or wearing a color that may draw attention to your eyes or make you feel special. Not caring what people think, as long as you feel sexy, or simply pretty. Sometimes, mascara and liplgoss, can instantly make you feel more put together. I love makeup because it can be anything you want it to be! Classic and simple ,elegant,a touch of hollwood glamour, flirty and fun ,cutting edge, polished and sophisticated, the options are endless!I think that is why women love doing Boudoir Sessions so much! They love the experience of truly feeling gorgeous, and expressing themselves.
I have been an Artist for 18yrs and I am still learning new skills every day. I learn from the best teachers: women of every race, age, and creed.
Over the years, I feel as though I have tried so many different avenues for makeup: print, boudoir sessions, fashion shows, working in salons, Nordstrom's MAC for 7yrs,Estee Lauder 3yrs, day spa's, Nina Ricci, prom events, costume events, little girly makeup parties, some t.v. and many, wonderful photoshoots. I work with innovative photographers such as Evan Bishop (http://www.bishophotography.com) However, my passion for makeup and making women feel special and beautiful in their own skin, led me to weddings ,special events, and Boudoir Sessions!
I will never forget the day that my boss sent me to the Ritz Carleton, in D.C to do someone's makeup for a special gala. Now I had no idea who I was going to meet. So needless to say, I am nervous, a novice at makeup.
Here I am knocking on the door, heart racing a bit, and low and behold, Charleton Heston opens the door!!!! Well I had to contain myself and not drop to my knees and call out Moses!!! Are you kidding me? As a child I watched the 10 commandments every year(growing up Catholic it was a must) Charleton Heston was Moses! Now he is standing in front of me. Well, I was creating a look for his wife and his daughter-in-law that night, I believe a charity event.
He directed me into meet his wife,a petite woman, sitting in a gold chiffon designer dress. She was so sweet to me. After I finished her makeup I said "Ms. Heston, do you like your look?" She replied "It is lovely" It's funny, she was beautiful to me without any makeup, because I saw a beauty in her that ran deeper than anything I could create. She was in her 70's , and I was captivated by her spirit and goodness. As I was touching her up, I asked "Ms. Heston, what is the key to a happy marriage?" I mean they had been married forever! She had this little twinkle in her eye, then she replied "Honey, anything you set out to do takes hard work and dedication, you have to throw your heart into it, and never give up....and then you will live Happily Ever After."
I thought that was amazing advice, so I persued my dreams, never giving up, and dedicated myself to making people feel special. I now do 150 weddings, Events and Boudoir sessions a year. I did not stop there, I started to design jewelry 6yrs ago, and now I design one of a kind pieces for all of my brides, and their bridesmaids(My online Shopping Boutique Coming soon)! I throw 2-3 jewelry trunk show parties a month at client's homes, and I am getting ready to launch my skincare in a salon called by Rudy Solorzano called "Chrome". I love what I do, this allows me to stay at home and raise a daughter, and enjoy life. I am truly living Happily Ever After!!!!
